What the numbers actually are

NCPG National Problem Gambling Helpline (NCPG adopted 1-800-MY-RESET as the National Problem Gambling Helpline™ on 29 January 2026; 1-800-522-4700 remains active; still published as of 18 September 2026): 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738) and 1-800-522-4700. Call, text, or chat. Source: ncpgambling.org. Public entry: 1800myreset.org. Do not treat 1-800-GAMBLER as NCPG's national line.

1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537) is operated by the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey (CCGNJ) — not by NCPG. CCGNJ's site says the helpline is free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day in New Jersey and throughout much of the U.S. Source: 800gambler.org.

Crisis: call or text 988. NCPG says 1-800-MY-RESET is not designed as an emergency service and points people in crisis to 911 or 988.

Financial counseling

NCPG says the helpline can refer people to financial counseling when gambling has created money trouble. We do not invent clinics. Start with the helpline, or ask a nonprofit credit-counseling agency you can verify — for example the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. Confirm a counselor's credentials on their page, not on ours.

Family support

Loved ones can call the same helpline. Gam-Anon is a fellowship for people affected by someone else's gambling. Their site lists 844-475-4213 and says they are independent of Gamblers Anonymous. If the house is in crisis — panic, despair, a plan to be gone — that is 988, or 911 if someone is in immediate danger.

NCPG states 1-800-MY-RESET is not designed as an emergency service; they point people in crisis to 911 or 988. Last checked 18 September 2026. Operator and organization pages win if this copy drifts.
